COVID-19 Project By Millineum Fellows:Distribution of PPE to hospitals

There’s no doubt that health workers have been playing a huge role in combating covid-19 globally. However, it is worrisome to know that our frontline health workers are being exposed to this virus due to insufficient personal protective equipment (PPE) when interfacing with patients which therefore impedes the efforts to control the spread of the coronavirus.

In a bid to support health workers, 2019 Millennium Fellows from the University of Benin, Nigeria by the names; Babatunde Bale and Amarachi Esonwune volunteered for a group of other young change-makers from a nonprofit organization called Global Youth Outreach to provide personal protective equipment to 2 hospitals in Lagos, Nigeria. In which, Lagos happens to be the epicenter of the spread of covid-19 in Nigeria accounting for more than 35% of reported cases.

The PPE provided included face masks, face shields, nurse caps, medical aprons, alcohol-based hand sanitizers, safety goggles and many more. The project (Mission PPE) was targeted to reach out to over 100 health workers in the state. The Chief Medical Directors of Orile-Agege and Ifako Ijaiye General Hospitals commended the effort of the young leaders for their humanitarian act.

The project was supported by the seed grant from The Pollination Project Covid-19 Relief fund.

Combating the pandemic in Nigeria

Earth to those who could here to my calling. It is certain that the covid-19 isn’t a joking matter anymore as cases continues to pop up here and there at an alarming rate while important personalities too are dying. Truly, the pandemic is nothing but a poetic event which is filled with irony and sarcasm depicting the greatness of God and how nothing is above or greater than him.

Let’s quickly state some facts before we venture into how the world has been leveled down to the foundation with other builders. Nigeria at the early stage of the pandemic could have actually prevent the virus from spreading to this greater length but due to our carelessness, it made it worse. Now, have we learnt our mistake?

No Why? Because some states like Kogi has refused to take the proper measures in preventing the spread of the virus as they play the Virgin role.

Meanwhile, it is known that Kogi has about 3 confirmed cases and also a recent personnel who died in an isolation center. Isn’t this obvious enough?

This shows the unreadiness to combat the virus and safeguard the lives of the masses by the government. In other news, the pandemic has reached about 10 million confirmed cases worldwide. Provision for a cure is still going on by scientist all over the world.

The world indeed is on the verge of having a revolution which is going to occur after the pandemic as the world will finally understand the importance of unity and patriotism.

What you eat affect your health

Nutrition as a major factor of healthy living

You are what you eat, therefore whatever you eat is a major determinant of how long you will live and if you will live happily.

Have you ever wondered why past generations lived longer than the present generation?
The major reason is because they paid more attention to ”Farmacy rather than Pharmacy”. It is really disheartening to know that people will rather take supplements to boost their health not aware that what you eat determine your health.

Does that that mean that nature is not smart enough to make every meal you consume contain the right nutrient that is needed to keep you healthy and fit?

Eid al fitri prayer took place in Korea today

What is Eid al fitr prayer?

The prayer observed in congregation by Muslims to mark the end of Ramadan which can either be 29 or 30 depending on the sight of the moon.you need to take the ritual bath and put on beautiful dresses when going for Eid al fitr prayer

What’s the situation in Korea for Eid al fitr prayer to take place?

In my last two  posts,I wrote on sultan of sokoto telling muslims in Nigeria to suspend Eid al fitr prayer and the clarity of whether Eid al fitr prayer can be observed at home or not.
In short,Nigeria as a whole didn’t go for Eid al fitr prayer, however despite the rise of  the pandemic globally,Korea still observe the prayer today.
This can be due to the fact that they have enough amenities to manage the virus and then they are well developed over there.

What precautions were taken ?

You won’t be allowed to enter the mosque or even go near the prayer ground if you are not with two essential elements and they are ; Nosemasks and Hand sanitizer..at the entrance of the mosque in incheon, your temperature will be checked and then you will go inside one by one.if the place is too crowdy, you’d have to stay outside the mosque.

With lockdown globally, stores, restaurants are closed and the subways are empty too probably  what added to the emptiness of the city is because today is a Sunday

There are practicing Muslims in Korea

This is clear with the way many Muslims came out in Korea today although the turn out is still low compared to last year.
I personally believe Korea is a country with no specific religion as well but to Allah be the glory,The country is enriched with Muslims as well

People observed Eid al fitr prayer over there in peace, took photos and went back home happily

He spoke during the daily press briefing of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 on Tuesday.

He said, “Indeed, 15 Chinese nationals came into Nigeria on 8th of April. They are here on the bill of the CCECC, a Chinese company doing some works for us in Nigeria in conjunction with some Nigerian companies they agreed to support us in the effort to respond to the pandemic.
“At Idu isolation centre in Abuja, they participated in retrofitting and equipping the isolation centre. They equally worked on the Dome project that was handled by the NNPC Construction in conjunction with ThisDay.
