Types of cream/lotion suitable for face and body

Face creams are moisturizers or cream you rub on your face
Choosing the right cream is paramount for healthy skin, hence you have to look into the factors, ingredients you should avoid in a cream amongst many things you have to consider.
Factors to consider before choosing a face cream
You have to look into various factors before investing money in face cream, some of them include:
1.Skin type
There is a reason there are different creams for people with different skin types. This is the most critical feature to identify before you purchase any product. Check if you have dry, oily, combination or sensitive skin and pick the range created for our skin type. Using a favourable face cream if you have oily skin as the wrong one can give you a dull and greasy look. So, before you buy any product first identify your skin type and shop specifically for it.
2. Weather conditions
The weather conditions in your city and at the time of purchase play a massive role in deciding the best face cream for your skin. Winters or dry chilly weather mandates a thick face cream to keep the skin well hydrated and supple. However, using this same texture during summers or humid months can clog the skin and lead to breakouts. Instead, at this time a thin lotion or moisturiser would work better.
3. Ingredients present
People with sensitive skin in particular may be allergic to certain ingredients. Make sure you check the label on all your beauty products to ensure they do not contain anything you are allergic too. Some face creams make use of plant or fruit extracts which can cause severe inflammation even with a mild presence to someone that is allergic. Opt for a cream that uses organic or high-quality ingredients with minimal additives. Further, where possible use a tester before buying the product or at the very least a patch test before using the cream on your face.
4. SPF addition
In case you are buying a morning or daily face cream, try and opt for one with added sunscreen. A SPF count of 30–50 is great depending on the amount of time spent outdoors. Most women are known to use only one product on their face before make-up and often skip the sunscreen. Choosing a face cream with SPF added in it can help protect the skin while making it extremely convenient. Remember, SPF isn’t just crucial when stepping outdoors but also when you’re indoors. Sun rays from the window or reflection of the lights can also affect your skin. Regular usage of sunscreen can prevent damage while also keeping your skin looking younger and wrinkle-free. In case you remain largely at home, a face moisturiser or cream with SPF 15 is also good enough. However, be sure to add some sunscreen before you step out!
5. Price of product
Most of us commonly mistake price of a product with quality and instantly seek out the most expensive products. However, this isn’t always the case. Leading brands everywhere take out quality products in varying ranges. Based on your skin type and requirements, opt for a face cream in your budget. This is especially true when trying out a brand for the first time.
6. Enriching vitamins
Along with superior hydration, why not pick a face cream that can help repair or smoothen out your skin as well? Face creams with added vitamin A or E are great for the skin as they delay ageing, prevent wrinkles and fine lines, help counter blemishes and boost growth of healthy skin cells. So pick up a cream that offers you something more than just hydration. With popular brands constantly coming out with new beauty products, you don’t have to spend a bomb every time. Simply, be sure you pick the right product.
Remembering these essential tips can help you pick out the best face cream to keep your skin soft and supple.
Toxic ingredients you should avoid in your face cream
Parabens are a whole family of chemicals (methylparabens, propylparabens, butylparabens, and ethylparabens) that help preserve shelf-life of products. When going through my own products, parabens were the most common offender.
2. Phthalates
Phthalates group of chemicals used to soften and increase the flexibility of plastics in cosmetics. This helps products stick to our skin.
Phthalates can be extremely dangerous to children, but it’s best to avoid them all together as they can be serious endocrine disruptors and even cause birth defects. Congress has actually banned several types of phthalates already from children’s products.
3. Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) and/or Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES)
SLS and SLES are known to cause skin irritation and trigger different allergies.
4. BHT
These are synthetic antioxidants that are used to extend shelf life and are likely carcinogens and hormone disruptors that may cause liver damage.
Our liver is our bodies’ main form of detoxification and if that’s not functioning at its best, it’s likely that other organs are functioning at their best either.
5. Lead
Lead is a heavy metal and is a neurotoxin. It can cause serious behavioral and learning problems, like lowered IQ. It’s already been removed from things like paint and gasoline, but not the things we’re putting on skin.
6.Hydroquinone : This is a common ingredient found in toning or glowing creams, yea you will become lighter and brighter but it is a bleaching agent that can destroy your skin and eventually lead to skin cancer
